"Jenny Sanford, the estranged wife of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, announced that she was filing for divorce, the latest chapter in the soap opera that has become the life of the former presidential aspirant, who admitted having an extramarital affair with a woman from Argentina.

.......................

Once a GOP contender for 2012, Sanford refused to comment this morning.
Sanford, 49, disappeared for days in June, saying he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail. It turned out he flew to Argentina to be with his lover.

They are just men-of-a-certain-age acting badly. And Gov. Sanford and his ilk really can't receive enough scathing media attention. It's a shame for his children.

How sad. I guess they couldn't work it out after all. :(

Really hard to understand something like this. Seems like there's a lot of it. But maybe there always was and the media just looked the other way before. Clinton was the last one anybody really tried to protect. Edwards, they just salivated over, as is the case with Sanford. Probably be seeing more of this.

I bet 90%+ of politicians have had affairs at some point in their lives. It goes with the the territory of being someone cocky enough to think they can run government but yet stupid enough to believe they are untouchable and can maintain a perfect image. We probably wouldn't have so many issues if we didn't make politicians have spotless personal lives, because none do. We just attract the ones who put on the best mask, and then get surprised when they get revealed. It doesn't happen more now - probably less, or at least less blatantly, now that you have the Edwards/Tiger Woods coverage that's absolutely vulturish.

he probably thought she would never divorce him. wonder if his south american girlfriend will want him now that he will soon be single again.
