Jesuits or Dominicans

Which religious order do you think brings about the best intellectuals?
The Dominicans (Order of Preachers)
or the Jesuits (Society of Jesus)

This is just for fun

Hmm, I guess I’ll go with Jesuits.

Ooo… tough one. I have friends who are priests in both orders. They’re both intellectual heavyweights. But hmm… Teilhard de Chardin was a Jesuit. Bartolome de las Casas was a Dominican. Yves Congar, Dominican. Much of the scientific revolution, Jesuit. I can’t decide!!!

I think I’ll let the atheists decide who’s more dangerous to them. In Arthur C. Clarke’s dystopian short story, The Star, it’s a Jesuit astrophysicist who’s the center of the story. With that, I’ll have to say… Jesuit.

The Jesuits are up and down, all over the map; Dominicans stick in the main to Thomas.

Agreed!

St. Thomas’ theological method is the only one recommended by the Papacy that I know of.
