Jihad vs Crusades - Free Video

Whenever you’re dealing with an apologist for Islam, or even a Muslim, and you bring up jihad, almost immediately, they kickback to you: “But what about those terrible crusades? Why they’re the moral justification for jihad and we’re just as bad as they are. So let’s not talk about jihad, okay? Let’s talk about the Crusades.”

You have to click on ‘watch the video’ – it’s short and the illustrations are very clear.

Well first of all that was a loooooong time ago. Christian society has evolved substantially since then. Second the Crusades were launched to take back land the Muslims conquered. Hardly the same thing as invading and converting by the sword. And too bad they weren’t successful. If Christianity were still the dominant religion in the region the world would be a lot more peaceful.

Success can be measured in a number of ways. Because of the Crusades, a very significant amount of Holy Land territory was held by Christians for hundreds of years. I would say that to that extent they were successful, and many souls were saved because of it. They didn’t hold the land forever, but even from a largely secular standpoint for a long time they were successful. Hundreds of years is long even from a largely secular perspective.
