John Chapter 17- God's name is Love?

This is my question: Does John 17 say that God’s name is Love?

Hello Jim.
What verses in chapter 17 of John are you referring to?

Yeah… What verses are you talking about? I just cross-referenced the RSV-2CE and NAB (the two Bibles I have in my dorm room) and neither has anything about God’s name being Love.

The last verse…

I made known to them thy name, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:26)

I don’t think it says that God’s name is love, only that Jesus has revealed God’s name.

I believe from memory the verses are 2, 6, and 26.

Also, is Fire the Bible’s symbol for Love or God?

Like TimothyH said, John 17:26 only says that Jesus has revealed God’s name, not that God’s name is Love.

Also, fire is a diverse metaphor. Depending on the context, it can be destruction, life, the Holy Spirit, God’s presence, cleansing…

Might this make sense?

God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son.

God is love.

Joshua is salvation.

We inherit eternal life through love.

Thanks for your help, time and energy!
