JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT Returns to South Florida Tonight: Hallelujah!

HALLELUJAH !! For those in South Florida, RUN, don’t walk, to the ACTOR’S PLAYHOUSE at the Miracle Theatre to see their revival of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, authors of **JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR **and EVITA, JOSEPH/DREAMCOAT is one of my favorite shows ever (I literally know all the lyrics from beginning to end, by memory).
It is a beautiful, loving, tremendously-uplifting musical about the great Patriarch Jacob (Israel), his twelve sons, the fathers of the Twelve Tribes, and his favorite son, Joseph, whom the other brothers jealously sell into slavery in Egypt after his dad gives him the beautiful “Coat of Many Colors.” The songs are often toe-tapping, some of them deeply moving, and the finale is so very exhilarating you leave the theatre in absolute joy. This is a terrific show, and will be a wonderful production.
EVERYTHING the Actors Playhouse does is top quality theatre, always beautifully directed with beyond-gifted actors and actresses. Do yourself a favor: DON"T MISS this show. Opening night is tonight March 7th, and it runs for a month.

Since the posting the above post, I now have the songs in my head…LOL. They are beautiful.

Some folks dream of the wonder’s they’ll do,
before their time on this planet is through.
Some just don’t have anything planned,
they hide their hopes and their hearts in the sand.
Now, I don’t say who’s wrong or who’s right,
but if, by chance, you’re here for the night,
Then all I need is an hour or two,
to tell the tale of a Dreamer like You!

We all dream a lot; some are lucky, some are not,
but if you think it, want it, dream it, then it’s real…
you are what you feel.
But all that I say can be told another way,
in the story of a boy whose dreams came true,
(and he could be…YOU !).

(this is the narrators song, such a lovely melody, then Joseph chimes in:

I closed my eyes; drew back the curtain,
to see for certain
what I thought I knew…
Far, far away, someone was weeping
but the world was sleeping,
Any dream will do…

I wore my coat, with golden lining,
bright colors shining,
wonderful and new;
and in the East, the Dawn was breaking,
while the world was waking,
Any dream will do…

A crash of drums, a flash of light,
my golden coat flew out of sight,
the colors faded into darkness; I was left alone…
May I return to the beginning?
For the light is dimming,
and the dream is, too…
The world and I,
We are still waiting,
still hesitating,
Any Dream will do…

Ay yi yi, I better stop or I’ll post the entire show’s lyrics.
If you all have no access to a live production on it, go to
and order the CD of it. It is wonderful.

I like this musical, too.

Did you know that it was originally written for a church children’s choir?
