Know any good prayers for soldiers?

My husband’s brother and my sister’s boyfriend just left for a 6 month tour of duty to Afghanistan. My hubby was supposed to go too, but that’s another story. Anyway, I was looking for some good prayers to say for them. My mom was actually asking for some and I told her I would find some and print them up for her…so if you could help me out that would be great!

here is one link I found that has some decent ones…maybe they can help someone else here:

Does anyone know of any specifically to St. Michael for soldiers in battle (not for the soldier to say but for us to say for him)?

With every thought of your family and friends who are placed in potentially dangerous situations, you can lift them in prayer by simply speaking your heart to the Lord.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Please care for — . Keep them from harm and from evil, Lord.
Please help them to feel your peace and protection where ever they are. Show them your grace and mercy, Lord. Cover them with a hedge of protection that cannot be penetrated.

Thank you, Jesus. I know that you can intervene on their behalf. Send legions of angels to watch over them and to drive away danger.

I trust them totally into your care, Lord. Praise you for your faithfulness!

(That’s just a simple example…and your prayers are effective as you submit wholly to His care, and trust Him completely, having no unforgiveness in your heart, or harboring sins that are keeping you separated from Christ. Go to Him, humbly, and with a clear conscience, pour out your cares on Him and He will be your rear guard!)

I, too, will pray for you and for your loved ones in Afghanistan.
God’s peace to you.

Thank you Doreen… I normally just “pray from the heart” but sometimes it helps to have a prayer to say too. Just like the Lord’s Prayer.

Also, my family who requested the prayers are not Catholic and not very religious. They are not very familiar with prayer and I think having written prayers to say would get them started in the right direction.

p.s I still can’t believe that no one is replying…I know there are lots of members with family in the military so I thought this thread would be huge by now…
