Life at Conception: Text Book Reference?

I saw an article not long ago, which I can not find now, which says that empirical science defines human life as beginning at conception- from a purely biological standpoint.

Does any one have the link to that?

There is really no biological dispute about the matter; but the syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker, in this article makes reference to the textbook “The Developing Human” giving the following quote:

“Human development begins at fertilization when a male gamete or sperm (spermatozoon) unites with a female gamete or oocyte (ovum) to produce a single cell – a zygote. This highly specialized, totipotent cell marked the beginning of each of us as a unique individual.”

Thank you!
