Looking for a quotation about discernment

There is a particular quotation that my vocations director mentioned on several occasions that I am looking for but I cannot find it. Unfortunately, I can't remember the precise wording of it, which would make it easier.

It was spoken by either John Paul II or by Benedict XVI, and it was something to the effect of, 'your vocation lies where your personal desires intersect with the needs of the church.' I'd much appreciate it if anyone happens to know what the actual quote is and where it's from!

God bless

Maybe you are thinking of the quote by Frederick Buechner: "The place God calls you is where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."
