I think this is why it would have been better if the new CAF did not have a news forum.
I struggle with the issue of immigration myself because it is against the law and when a person violates those laws they forfeit any protection they might have as a legal immigrant.
We have these laws to protect immigrants, regulate the flow of individuals coming into the country and for national security.
America has a right to know who is coming into our nation.
At the same time when someone lives here with their children for 15 or 20 years and never work on citizenship which should be the goal of all immigrants it’s hard to feel sorry for them at least completely when they are deported.
Countries and cities from Biblical times to the Wild West and right up to now have had border walls, customs and documentation on who, when, why and where people have come from into their country.
Many countries have harsher immigration regulations and punishment for crossing their borders illegally.
Some countries even have a shoot-to-kill order like Afghanistan if they catch you crossing their border.
But we are told we are being Un-Christian if we take this position even if it is the law and not just in our country but in others and even if it defies logic that people should choose to live here illegally especially long term.
It’s hard enough being Catholic and extension Orthodox in a primarily Protestant and Atheist country it’s even harder to be Catholic and be a Trump supporter let alone a hardline conservative.
It’s difficult when we have our countries own Priest, Bishop’s and Cardinals practically endorsing homosexuality in some cases.
Some of these individuals have come out joyfully proclaiming their homosexuality and homosexual views even in books.
It’s frustrating that no disciplinary actions are taken against these men who are clearly teaching against the Church’s Doctrine and Holy Scriptures.
As my priest told me there is nothing new under the Sun the same type of people have existed from the beginning of the church as the very ones that exist now they’re always will be clergymen spreading heresy and heterodoxy.
Judas’s have tried to destroy the church from the beginning and will continue to do so until the end of time.
While it is true that the office of Peter holds infallibility this is only true when the Pope speaks dogmatically.
The Pope has said many things which I do not agree with for instance immigration but he is the Holy Father and we should respect him, love him, and pray for him.
We don’t always have to like him or love him on an emotional level but we do have to will for the good of his soul and for the whole Church.
I can’t remember what Catholic answers apologist said this but he says you cannot leave Peter because of Judas.
I understand why you want to leave the Catholic Church and why you would almost prefer being Orthodox.
I have felt the same feelings as well but the fact remains that I believe in the teachings the church and I believe that in the end the Gates of Hell will not prevail.
Best advice that I can give is to stay off the Catholic answers news forums and to not focus on world politics as much.
Pray for the Church and the whole world every day and to try to continue to grow in a holiness.
You are not alone in your thoughts and struggles.
God Bless you
