Man is made to know, love and serve ... or not?

The Baltimore Catechism had a succinct answer to the question “Why did got make you?” I.e. to know, love and serve Him in this life to be happy with him forever in the next. This is lost in the CCC which, in the Prologue, says only that “He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength.” What happened to “serve him”. I have often heard priests quote the Baltimore version, and it does roll off the tongue well in faith formation classes. Are left to rely on references that are outside the accepted norms? Awkward!

Not to worry! To love Him IS to serve Him.
