Mark of the beast...

So Ive been doing alot of reading on this topic the past couple days, and Here is what I have come to think will happen…
First, this will happen right after the rapture, our govt and others in charge will be in shock at all the missing people and will institute some kind of chip/GPS tracker, or something that will give a persons whereabouts at all times, they will do this, and tell the public this is being done just in case more people end up going missing, and Im assuming this will be a very quick thing, people will probably have a week or less to get this ‘mark’, they will ‘sell’ this thru the media, and talk about how great it will be that no one will ever have a missing kid anymore and everyone will be able to be located quickly in case of a disaster. I even think 99% of people will willingly take this mark/implant and probably make a big deal about how patriotic they are by doing this, Govt will probably arrest those not willing to get it and label them as terrorists hell bent on causing problems for everyone else!!

I also wonder what the churches view on this will be, as The anti-christ and satan will not be ignorant and stupid, they have probably thought this out completely for a fool proof plan on how to convince even the most devout of catholics and christians to accept this mark. Being raised in the catholic church and knowing alot of catholics today, I just cannot see the church completely rebelling against something implemented by the Govt or law enforcement, this would mean suddenly priests would be telling their congregations to dis-obey the law and TO NOT take this mark, even if it means being arrested and tortured.

Im curious what others theories on this are and what will happen to make our govts implement this.

Ive also heard other theories that the rapture will be blamed on extraterrestrials and that will allow them to create a one world govt more easily, as they can tell the people we all need to come together against an off world threat. people would definitely buy into this, hook line and sinker, especially following a huge event like the rapture!

I do believe this will happen, but kind of up in the air on when, I know alot of people say they think we are living in end times, but Im not so sure, and it may be easier on them to implement the mark of the beast more slowly, so people are more willing to accept it.

many people seem to think the Social Security number system could be this mysterious mark, and they do have some very compelling arguments, try getting/holding a job without one!! LOL Plus, no one would suspect something like this, set up to initially help people, this could be a HUGE delusion, and 100% of people in the US have fallen for this, (if it is indeed the mark) The SS system is already abused on a grand scale, it CLEARLY says on the card, NOT FOR identification purposes, but I cant count the number of times Ive been asked for this card as a secondary ID, and this was at the DMV, courthouses, etc. This is kind of strange, I think the next time I get asked for this, i will show this to them and ask them why they are asking for my SS# when it says NOT for ID…Anyone else ever try this? Im curious what would happen, there is really nothing they could do, as it is in bold on the front of the card LOL

So you do realize there is no such thing as the rapture, right? That is not Catholic teaching, it is a heresy.

In reality, nobody knows exactly what the “mark of the beast” will be. What we do know is that “666” is number of the name of the beast(anti-christ); 6 in the bible is the number for man.

We also know that it will place in the right hand, the forehead, or having the “number”. The technologies of today certainly lend themselves for the practicality of being able to doso, but again, who knows for sure.

This really is a world wide system that will be in place during the time Anti-Christ rules-or is trying to rule everyone everywhere. Right now with all the tracking devices already in place, it will be easy to know who is where and all buying and selling will be controlled by this beast of a man.

So unless you take this mark, you cannot buy or sell. Anything. That in of itself will make a lot of people take on the mark and declare loyalty to him. Understand, the man comes on the scene at a time of great world wide distress and the world wants peace and stability and enough to eat- for shortages are severe. He seems to have the answers.

Also consider the punishment for not taking the mark. There are going to be reluctant people, for they now understand who he is-at this point you can leave out a rapture- as we are talking about believers. Now the horror begins-beheading.

Personally, I do not think this is going to be some quick, almost bloodless guiletine . Sadly, I watched a number of the beheading done by islamists and it is up close and long and bloody and noisy and the person suffers greatly. It will not take a lot of them to happen in public places for everyone to line up for their mark.

Is it acceptable for a catholic to believe that there will be a day when their bodies will be reunited with their spirits and will be brought up into the air to meet the Lord? Ina twinkling of an eye? isn’t that read at every catholic funeral Mass?

“rapture” is just a word that describes this event.

From what I read , and my understanding of what I read, in the Catholic catachsim is that the whole 7 year tribulation and the 1000 year of rule of Christ is not “safely taught” but I do not recall it being outright heresy.

Just curious.

in the context of the post , rapture happening before the second coming, yes heresy. But there will be a rapture on the** last **day.

His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI was very clear about how we are to read the book of Revelation.

VATICAN CITY (CNS) – The Book of Revelation should not be read as a frightening or enigmatic warning, but as an essentially encouraging vision of Christ’s definitive victory over evil, Pope Benedict XVI said.
… “As one sees, John wants to instill in his readers an attitude of courageous trust. With his strong and sometimes difficult images, he certainly does not intend to propose enigmas to solve, but to suggest a path of certain hope,” he said. The pope said that while Revelation is permeated by continual references to sufferings and trials, it is equally marked by expressions of praise and exultation, which represent “the luminous side of history.”

Revelation is symbolic and not to be taken literally.

This is how I understand it.

Jesus will judge the living and the dead and all will be made one glorified body of Christ. The living on earth, with the dead souls already saved in heaven. We will see ourselves as we really are in the new heaven and earth, fully clothed in Christ, wholly, both body and soul.

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

As for 666 that was identified as Nero or Caesar, Symbolically, it has happened different times in history that way as it may happen before the return of our Lord. Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist and is reigning now over Gods holy people. We are in that 1000 year reign, a thousand years means a long time, and 7 means complete or fulfillment.

And a person does not want to bear the mark of the beast in thought word or deed (as the Roman soldiers did 2,000 years ago. We want to bear the mark of Christ in thought word or deed and wait in hopeful anticipation for the coming of Our Savior Jesus Christ and there are many ways to show your love for Jesus Christ.

It is sad to think people would be stupid enough to accept something that will damn their eternal souls over a very short period of time here on earth, not being able to buy, sell, or work a job, it is almost comical to think this way, have people become so modernized and addicted to the pleasures of the world, they would give up their eternal souls for a couple years of an earthly life?

I have noticed that in modern times, many people, always get what they want, and if not, they go to court until they do, people dont want to work, so they line up for govt assistance, but unlike days of the past, today they do not stand in long lines for food for their families, they want cash in hand(to spend how they like), Govt issued cell phones, etc LOL

It is sad to see what people have become in these days. I honestly believe hardly any of them would resist this ‘mark’, even if only for a short time, people today are not willing to give up anything for any amount of time.

Then again, God did say MANY would be fooled in these days. The church and its members will not be immune from this either.

No, there will be the *Final Judgment *on the last day.

That would be the resurrection and final judgment. The Church does not use the term rapture at all.

It is not taught at all. I don’t know where you get the “safely taught” idea.

Yes, Catholic Church teaches that at the end of time, after Jesus comes back with His Holy Angels, before the final Judgement, our soul will be reuntied with our resurrected immortal body.

At the end of time, when Jesus comes back, in Scripture, it tells us that those who have passed before us will get their resurrected bodies, then we who are left on earth will be changed “in the twinkling of an eye” and be “caught up” or more correctly “snatched” up to meet up with Christ when He comes again - meaning that EVERYONE then who has ever lived/died/and is alive, will all be transformed (have our new immortal bodies), and then comes the Judgement. THAT is the “rapture”. It has not been taught, nor has it ever been taught, in the Catholic Church that some of us will be left on earth to suffer the “tribulation”. Protestants have erred and sadly misinterpreted Holy Scripture.

Heresy is a deviation from the truth of what the Church teaches. Therefore, the “Rapture” is a heretical teaching.

1,000 is a symbolic number which means MANY many years. Just like when we may say
“I told you a thousand times not to…”. We did not really tell someone a thousand times something, yet it just indicates that we said it A LOT

Again the number 7 is symbolic, and not to be taken literally.

The Mark of the Beast - 666 - was used to deguise the name of Nero. In Scripture, gematria was used as “code” for those who knew its meaning therefore masking the messages safely. Nero’s name with these codes was translated in the Hebrew to 666. In the Latin Vulgate, it was translated as 616, since the numerical value changed.

So if anyone was curious as to why some Bibles would have 616 instead of 666, that is why.

CEM

The “Rapture” is a theory of Protestant Fundamentalist - Which btw is not a biblical word ( funny how they strictly enforce Sola Scriptura and at the same time support their own idea of something thats not even in the bible) But the word rapture comes from that latin vulgate Bible - rapiemur - " snatched up, or to take away "

I think it’s good to exercise the possibilities. I have never seen a single interpretation that survived debate to my full satisfaction. And so I hang on to many theories.

It’s my personal belief that the best most of us can do is familiarize ourselves with as many reasonable possibilities as we can to prevent ourselves from being deceived should that day come.

There can only be one absolute truth and All the others are false, so why would you think it’s a good thing to hang onto many theories considering most of them would be false? Especially those theories made up only in the last few centuries?

If you know the complete and absolute truth of how these future events will play out then by all means hold to only that. However I do not know, and so I will hold to the reasonable theories until the future becomes the present and reveals which theories were correct. The more I prepare myself the less likely I am to be deceived.

There is no such thing as the rapture.

Any interpretation of scriture which comes up with an idea of a rapture is incorrect.

For as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In [those] days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be [also] at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be out in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left. (Matthew 24:37-41)

What happened in the days of Noah? The good guys were left, righteous Noah and his family, and the non-believers and wicked people were taken, swept away by the flood. Only the good were left on earth. Jesus tells us that the good guys will be left behind, and this is exactly the opposite of what the rapture says, that the good guys will be raptured.

The rapture is a completely unbiblical belief, 100% opposite of what the Bible actually says.

A rapture requires that Christ come again twice, once to rapture the believers and another at the end of time. But Christ promised that he would return once, at the end of time. There will not be a second and a third coming, but only a second coming.

**There will be no such thing as a rapture. **

There will be a ressurectionn of the dead.

The rapture holds that people will fly up into the sky to meet Jesus and be taken to heaven. Catholicism does not teach this. The Bible does not say this.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them (Revelation 21:1-3)

Jesus will descend, heaven will meet earth, and our bodies will be resurrected. That is exactly what the Bible says.

There will be no flying up to meet Jesus in the air.

For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

What Paul was doing was using a common practice of “going out to meet” a visiting dignitary or royal official to teach. People would leave the walled city and “go out to meet” such a person, and then escort them back to the safety of the walled city as an honored guest. Paul was exlaining that Jesus will return and be our honored guest, and not that we would go somewhere with him, but that he would remain with us, just like it says in Revelation!

There is no rapture. Jesus will come. We will be ressurected. The bad guys will go to hell. The rest will live with Jesus. End.
