Mary on the Mantle

Got this on Facebook:

Our amazing web guy (and father of four) came to our zoom meeting a few weeks ago and said “what if Mary replaced the Elf on the Shelf???” And from there our team started having so much fun brainstorming what we are now calling Mary on the Mantle.
_
Every day of Advent Mary is found around the house “nesting” to prepare for her baby. Cleaning, doing laundry, prepping the Advent wreath, maybe visiting Elizabeth, putting her swollen feet up, riding a donkey (or a zebra if that’s all you have , researching a route to Bethlehem.
_
Each day, she has a special message for the children who find her in the little tote bag that comes with our Mary dolls. The note has a suggestion for an act of kindness that helps children prepare for Jesus’s birth. Things like calling grandparents, going through toys and clothes to donate to children in need, reading to a sibling, etc. You can choose things that are age appropriate and work for your family.
_
You can even make Mary’s belly grow by adding some paper towels or fabric under her dress .
_
We have tons of ideas on the blog to make this simple and fun for you AND we’d love to give the community ideas.

Tag us and use the hashtag #maryonthemantle to share!
