Today we celebrated the principal feast of the Patroness of Mount Carmel, Our Lady of Mount Carmel (the actual feast day is tomorrow, July 16). Our new Bishop came to celebrate the Mass. And what an entourage he brought. Besides the Pastor and Bishop, the Pastor from the Catholic Church next door (literally! - less than 500 feet away), the local Dominicans (including one visiting from Pakistan), two local Maronite Priests, the Vicar General of the Diocese, and a handful of other Priests (some retired). The Bishop gave a beautiful homily on the Good Samaritan and the Blessed Mother. At the end of Mass, we processed to the outdoor shrine of Our Lady and said other prays, including the Litany of Loreto. After all that, the Bishop was meeting and greeting folks - and little ol’ me got to kiss the Bishop’s ring!! :extrahappy:
What a blessed day! Praise be to Jesus Christ! Hail Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel!
