Matthew 24:36

Matthew 24:36 says that no one knows the day or hour the end of the world will come, but there were some authors of Scripture who believed the end was going to happen in their lifetime, but 2000 years later and we’re still here. Since Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit, (God) does that mean that Scripture was in error?

I probably should’ve posted this under Scripture, sorry.

I think that is debatable. Even so, Scripture itself does not affirm that.

Could you please elaborate?

Considering the context of the collapse of the temple era in a wave of massive persecution, I think it is debatable that the authors of scripture thought the world would end in there lifetime. And Scripture does not affirm that the world would totally end in the lifetime of the writers of scripture.
