May anyone enter a Catholic Church to pray?

Is it true that all Catholic churches are open every day of the week and have services every day of the week? Can we go in and pray any time we like? If we wanted to pray, would we have to bow down to Mary to get into the church? Thank you.

Dear P,

Not every Catholic Church is open all day, but many are. Most have at least one Mass on weekdays. You are certainly welcome to pray in any Catholic Church that is open—and you don’t have to bow down to Mary. However, you probably acknowledge her unique role when you cherish the manger scene at Christmas. Most all Christians do.
