McCotter Joining 2012 Field

Thad McCotter, a Republican House member from Michigan, will announce a presidential run Saturday in his home state, reports USA Today.

McCotter has been in the House since 2002 and served as chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee from 2006 to 2010.

McCotter, who has spent the past few days in Iowa, told the Des Moines Register that he sensed Republicans weren’t happy with the current field. “Republicans may be prepared at some point to settle, if that’s how they view it, but they’re still viewing it as, ‘Why should we have to? What else is out there?’” he said. “It doesn’t mean it’s me. The reason I was here was to find out are they even asking that question, ‘What else is out there?’ And they clearly are.”

Last week, a representative for McCotter, who tried to allow his client to remain anonymous at first, paid $18,000 to get the second-best location at the Ames Straw Poll.

He is Catholic. Saw him on EWTN World Over show. Very smart, I like him.
I need to research him more.

You know…that guy, that did some stuff…about…things…

This is great news for America.

For those of you not familiar with Thaddeus McCotter (nickname Thad), here’s a brief rundown…

  1. First and foremost he appears to be a faithful Catholic (i say appears, because nobody can speak absolutely about another person’s faith)
Here’s a quote during an interview this year with Kathryn Lopez of
----- LOPEZ: How does being Catholic affect how you approach public life?
----- MCCOTTER: Ultimately, our life shall be measured as a whole. Thus, I do not muse on how being a Catholic affects my public life; I think about how being a Catholic affects my entire life. I do not compartmentalize my Catholicism.

  2. On the issues:

While I don’t know him personally, we attended the same high school (Detroit Catholic Central), and from what I know he is a well respected individual. I encourage you all to get to know him more closely, as I certainly intend to.

Let us pray that during this journey the Holy Spirit works within Thad, providing him with the strength to hold firm to Church teaching, and giving him the eloquence to present it to a nation in desperate need of its Truth.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen!

Ooo oooo oooo, Mister McCotter, Mister McCotter…oooo oooo oooo.

Welcome back McCotter.

He’s unelectable.
