A 48-year-old D.C. man and well-known fundraiser for conservative political candidates is accused of receiving and possessing child pornography.
Michael Centanni was arrested Thursday after an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security. Court documents say federal officers were led to Centanni through “child porn sharing” files traced to his home computer.

According to those documents, officers also found a hidden camera inside his D.C. home with a clear view of the shower.
Centanni works as a Chief Operating Officer with Base Connect, a company that specializes with conservative, direct-mail fundraising, housed just a few blocks from the White House.
Base Connect has raised millions in campaign funds for conservative political organizations and candidates in U.S. Senate and House races around the country.Records indicate the company has also co-sponsored the prestigious Conservative Political Action Committee Convention, or CPAC. Photos posted online show Centanni attended and manned a promotional table.
“We are shocked and dismayed at the recent allegations concerning Michael Centanni … a minority partner at Base Connect,” the firm’s CEO Kimberly Bellissimo told News4. “Effective immediately, [he’s] suspended from any and all duties involving Base Connect’s day-to-day operations.”
According to Bill Miller with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a charge of receipt of child porn carries a statutory maximum of 20 years in prison. Possession of child porn charges carry a maximum of 10 years but could increase depending on the age of the child involved.
Centanni is behind bars without bond until his next court appearance, scheduled for Nov. 4.

Actually, I wasn’t going to even comment on this story, because it’s just something I found interesting. But then I realized what the inevitable reactions and comments would be, so I guess I may as well weigh-in. I personally just see this as yet another of the endless examples of high-level Republican Family Values that constantly come to light. I think the Franklin Scandal is the most telling example, but this one is more par for the course. Some will no doubt cry out that this article is just an example of the supposed “liberal media,” while others will instead choose to criticize me personally as being somehow pro-Democratic Party. So, rather than reply directly to anyone who feels the need to posit this, I’ll just say right here that one would have to search far and wide to find any individual with a more bottomless contempt for the Democrats than I’ve always felt. Both parties are thoroughly detestable and without merit, in my view. I choose to simply be Catholic, rather than Republican or Democrat.

I don’t know if it’s just that as I age I am less easily impressed, or fooled;but I find voting often is choosing the least evil option. In Canada we have more than two parties, but it still comes down to horrible, terrible, horrendous, just bad.

Me too!

However, lest our enemies throw the priest scandals back in our faces if we say anything, we should remember that perverts crop up in many places in society. :frowning:

Seems this is just one of a string of federal child porn arrests over the past month or so.

There was a Democrat politician in PA, a Priest in PA, a CEO in MO, a student, 2 senior citizens, a highway patrol officer in CA and a number of others all arrested recently on child porn charges.

The CEO is Kimberly Bellissimo, here is her facebook page: facebook.com/kimberly.bellissimo?fref=tl_fr_box

The COO, Chief Operating Officer has an Italian name as well. It makes me wonder a bit how the company was formed, how people were hired. More precise could these people be related to each other even? Family business? Looking at their webpages such as facebook, their religious beliefs seem apparent as well.

If these people are so prominent, why on her webpage am I seeing an ad for Ryan Zinke running for representative in Montana? Do they not fund raise for more prominent politicians? I don’t know if these are really big players in the industry.

And of course, the man has not been convicted of anything. One never knows.

To all:

First:

Mr. Centanni has been accused and not convicted. The news story is ment to tarnish him and everything he has touched. Even if he is found innocent, his life has been destroyed.

Second:

 We should pray for him!

For if he is innocent he will need strength.

For if he is guilty he needs gods forgiveness.

Third:

I pray this is not a form of targeting given his involvement in the conservative movement.

He has pleaded guilty.

If one considers the problems in Washington or politics to be owned by either party, I believe the individual is mistaken.

If this reflects on any aspect of Washington, it is simply the potential for corruption of power.

That trait is common to both political parties.

Is he Catholic or Protestant (I don’t anything about him or the organization - sorry). To me, this is just a good reminder not to get too trusting with anybody in any organization, really, I mean we had pedophilia and pederasty in the Catholic Church, right, and protectors. I think it can really break your faith if you become too dependent and trusting on these kinds of leaders. Just always remember we are all human. And keep your own house in order.
