What’s the difference between monks and deacons?
Monks = men who take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, have a religious community, are "separated from the world"
Deacons = single/married men who have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the Diaconate, who have made promise of obedience to their bishop
or = unmarried men members of an institute who have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the Diaconate, who make a vow or promise of obedience to their superior and may have other vows/promises like a monk. Such men can be both a monk + deacon or member of secular institute + deacon...
