Morality of unnecessary cosmetic surgery

My niece recently had surgery to correct the shape of her ears. One of her ears extended too far out and evidently she had a complex about how they looked. She’s a pretty girl imo and I was shocked to hear about her surgery. I haven’t seen the results yet, though am expecting an improvement in her appearance in terms of her ears! But I believe that we shoudnt mess around with what God gave us, unless surgery will improve ones health. Is what she went through-- this unnecessary procedure-- somehow immoral?

No, it’s not immoral.

There is also one’s mental health. If she was experiencing a lot of distress over her appearance, this may have been a procedure which improved her health in that sense.

Plastic surgery after accidents and burns or to correct any birth deformities or defects is not immoral.
