BlackFriar, You are bringing up pallaitive or terminal sedation, which is a totally different thing from what we are talking about.
How is it you cannot understand I agreed that I changed the topic?
I was changing the topic to concerns re end of life sedation (which is a service provided by hospices offering palliative care)
I realise this was not really the original topic.
That is what happens on a forum.
You disagree that “hospice patient” reasonably means someone receiving end of life palliative care?
Here I was observing what the phrase “hospice patient” usually means in my country. It is usually someone receiving end of life care. That may or may not include sedation at the end. You were the one who seems to assume by “end of life palliative care” I simply meant sedation, I did not.
To put it bluntly, this paper is talking about the kind of myths that you are promoting …
This further demonstrates your dangerous (and I don’t use this term lightly) lack of understanding of the subject.
I am not promoting myths. I am observing what seem to be professional articles and putting up my observations and critiques of them for others to comment/debate precisely so myth may be separated from fact. Putting up my lay medical appreciation of matters for debate and comment is hardly dangerous…in fact it is the very opposite as I clearly seek professional response.
I see all sorts of professionals arguing with each other on these sorts of topics so forgive me if I do not take your unreferenced word for it on these matters. Please post links if you disagree with the .articles I link to.
When you offer insightful observations on those articles or provide professional counter articles you will be assisting in this healthy endeavour. Accusing people of asserting unsubstantiated set positions when they have simply reported what they have seen in allegedly professional articles they have put up for comment is far from helpful.
Lets move on from your sensitivities and discuss the links/debates I have always been referring to…
Yes its a change of topic. You don’t have to engage if you want to stick with the originating post.
