GRAFTON, W.Va. - On this 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day, the woman credited with creating one of the world’s most celebrated holidays probably wouldn’t be pleased with all the flowers, candy or gifts.
In addition to our earthly mothers, let us not forget to give thanks and praise to our common and Heavenly mother, Mary.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Hail Holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry poor banished children of eve, to thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then thou, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us and after this our exile, show unto us the most blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Oh clement, oh loving, oh sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us oh Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
