Motivation for Baptism

Do you think it’s sufficient to want to believe before baptism as an adult as opposed to firmly believing? Is it necessary to be able truthfully to say the whole Nicene Creed? How valuable is simply the desire to believe?

[BIBLEDRB]Mark 9:23[/BIBLEDRB]

If you are not certain that you wish to be Baptized, I don’t think you should be Baptized. Baptism puts an obligation on you that should be a joy, but if you have doubts, living the Catholic faith could be a chore. If you are not motivated by love of God, and truly believe what you are asked to put into practice, then hold off on Baptism until you are convinced that this is the path you desire to follow. Good luck and God bless.
