If it is anything like the trailer it is not very accurate historically.
Not sure how it portrays the Church.
History is here:
Battle of Hattin – Devastating crusader loss
Balian of Ibelin (Orlando Bloom) – Vassal of Jerusalem. Lord Balian of Ibelin maried Maria Comnena, widow of King Amalric, and the Ibelins became the most powerful noble family of the kingdom, later ruling over Beirut.
(See Lordship of Ibelin)
Almeric (Velibor Topic) – King of Jerusalem, who had two children Baldwin the IV and Sibylla
Raynald de Chatillon (Brendan Gleeson) – French Crusader, Prince of Antioch
Guy de Lusignan (Marton Csokas) – King of Jerusalem
Sybilla (Eva Green) – Daughter of Almeric, who marries Guy
Saladin (Ghassan Massoud) – Islamic leader who helped defeat the Christians in the holy land
Imid (Alexander Siddig) – Founder of the Zengi dynasty
The Knights Templar – Order of monastic knights, wearing white robes with a red cross
The Knights Hospitaller – Another order of knights who wore a white cross on white black robes
- In the trailer we see Guy wearing a white robe with a red cross on it. That was the uniform of the Knights Templar, of which Guy was not a member.
