Please pray for me brothers and sisters! I have a very weak faith. I have a very inconsistent faith. One week, I'm completely on fire. The next, I want to go back to wicca and satanism. What is wrong with me? Add to that the discouragement I have over not being able to pull myself out of sexual sin and I am a wreck. I have recently lost a job (with another to hopefully come soon). For me it seems like I always think the grass is greener in another pasteur, be it with my faith, with work, with whatever. I want consistensy. I want a relationship with Jesus! I want a relationship with the Blessed Virgin Mary! I just don't know what to do! HELP!
Have you tried a Scriptural Rosary? A very fine one is at purgatory.ca. The only catch is you have to "sponsor" a deceased relative or friend, as the apostolate that runs the site mainly works with praying for the holy souls in Purgatory.
The rosary methods combine the St. Louis de Montfort method (I think his first method) with verses before each Hail Mary. You can choose from the Douai-Rheims with classical (thee's and thou's) prayers, The Douai-Rheims with modern prayers (you's), The RSV with Classical or Modern, or the New American Bible with Modern prayers. Only the Douai-Rheims with classical prayers has the Luminous Mysteries. Personally, I like the one with the NAB -- the translation is the original 1970s, however, so the Gospels may sound a bit off if you are used to the current translation.
It is, in my opinion, a most incomparable prayer. Try one decade a day, then two, then three, and so on until you are saying all fifteen a day with the reflections of St Louis de Montfort and the passages of Scripture.
Oh! make sure, if you use this, to print back-to-back, the site gives instructions on how to do that. I tried to make the booklet at the local library because I don't have a printer at home, and became very frustrated. I ended up having to tape the pages together!
But, for now:
St Michael, the Archangel, defend us in this day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do you, O prince of heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
