Nearly half of countries are producing too few babies to maintain their populations, say researchers

#1

In 1950, women were having an average of 4.7 children in their lifetime. The fertility rate all but halved to 2.4 children per woman by last year.

If the fertility rate drops below approximately 2.1 then populations will eventually start to shrink (the figure is higher in countries with a high risk of dying in childhood).

“It’s a surprise even to people like myself, the idea that it’s half the countries in the world will be a huge surprise to people.”

It’s only a surprise to those who buy into the overpopulation scare tactics.

Now, who will be paying for pensions and maintaining government services once the world’s fertility rate goes lower and below replacement as it is more and more likely going to be the case? At that point, migration won’t do anyone any good because where are you going to get migrants from and considering people like French President Emmanuel Macron* and Bill Gates are discouraging Africans from having ‘too many’ children?

*Macron’s remarks in particular were despicable.

I don’t know why this is a surprise to anyone.

God likes simple life, but men rebel God and sin.
Pioneer Western countries fabricate our “wants” as ultimate goals of civilized life. Foods under sea are almost unlimited, but the administration labeled these foods causing cancers while they have highest anti-oxidant to help longevity.

We consume consumption or consumption consume us?

#4

Okay…what do you want us to do about it?

#5

I pray the Holy Spirit for guidance.

#6

I did not know there was a Church teaching about expanding population being a good thing. Overpopulation is certainly proving to be exceptionally bad for other species and the habit for humans of the future.

#7

It isn’t a teaching.

GOTTA MAEK BAYBEEZ

You’re getting a like for the Hot Fuzz reference!

Wait til they figure out that their social security is in jeapardy…then they’ll encourge children, faithful marriages.

#12

There are a lot of reasons for this, the increased popularity of abortion as well as young people choosing the homosexual lifestyle. But it shows why, especially in Europe, they actually need the massive immigration from the Middle East and elsewhere if they are going to survive.

#13

Unfortunately world population is still increasing at around 70m a year.

#14

Probably because while birth rates are going down, so are infant mortality rates. We have fewer kids, but more of them survive into adulthood.

#15

Likewise, while we are seeing an increase in the number of elderly people, they tend to be healthier and more active than similarly aged people from 50+ years ago.

#16

I don’t see where that is “unfortunate”.

#17

We probably won’t have the resources to deal with that sort of growth long-term, especially in countries where the standard of living is very high.

#18

When world population decreased substantially, like during the Black Death of the 14th Century, it really caused a lot of problems.

#19

Although you presumably see the damage the weight of our numbers is inflicting on the planet.

#20

The world population is more than twice what it was when I was a kid, and the standard of living has risen.

Its really difficult to say what will happen
