A 13-year-old boy who had been neglected by his mother and developed a pornography addiction has admitted raping a girl aged under eight.

Should he be tried as an adult?

IMO no why do you ask? He’s a kid not an adult. This sex stuff is way out of hand. IMO. Mind you there are differences in children and teens. Of course we all know this.

Absolutely not.

His parents should be charged with what he did to the little girl. But will he ever be normal now? :frowning: Will he grow up to be an adult predator? :frowning: The whole thing is sick and sad.

Where was the little girl’s parents? How did he get access to her over a two year period without anyone noticing anything? That just baffles me. :frowning:

Why should a 13-year-old be tried as an adult?

#7

I want to know who introduced him to porn.

This just goes to show what pornography can do to a person. I honestly believe with all of my heart that sin begets sin. Therefore, looking at pornography is likely to cause other sins. I really think that if someone looks at pornography, they are likely going to have other issues with chastity. Of course looking at violent pornography could easily lead to a person being tempted to rape someone as well. Rape, is of course, objectively grave matter.

Will he ever grow up to be normal? Of course. A predator? That’s a serious mental disorder. There are few real predators out there. Of course they’re all that’s news worthy. Yes he is sick. And the best thing to do for sick people is to pray for them and show them the right way. He needs therapy. He’ll get it together.

Lord I pray for the offender and survivor in the name of the blessed trinity. :signofcross:

Yes, especially for a young mind that doesn’t even fully understand what it is he’s seeing. :frowning: It’s like brainwashing, he didn’t even have a chance to develop a normal healthy idea of sexuality, that perversion was forced on his young mind before he even knew what it was. :frowning:

Nowadays? Probably the internet.

#12

Almost certainly true.

Unfortunately.

Sad. :(:frowning:

You are exactly right. Sin begets sin. Him looking at this pornography has probably already warped his mind to a certain extent. We should pray for this boy that he would repent of his sin of looking at pornography and that he would turn his life around and live his life for God.

Only Adults should be tried as adults.

#15

That would be us. We keep internet porn legalized in the name of free speech.

Oh, as to the question, I say yes. Try him as an adult. I would bet a year salary that a three year sentence will result in others being raped and at least one child killed.

I knew it would be in the UK. This glorious land has slouched toward Gomorrah becoming more and more debased and debauched. The Church is a tourist attraction. The huge welfare state and the lack of formed families spawns this kind of behavior in many parts of the UK. We shouldn’t be asking whether he should be tried as an adult but how the government’s role in destruction of personal responsibility has created these monsters. Maybe it’s not too late for us.

As to a child watching porn, he is forming pathways in his brain that will be difficult if not impossible to eradicate. This child is sadly doomed to a future of continued hell. The only thing that might be done is to keep him away from other innocent children. Also I suggest holding the “mother” accountable for him. She should work for the rest of her life to repay society and the victim for her hideous lack of responsibility and judgement.

Such a sad testament to how a society can spin out of control when it ignores God.
