New Oberammergau Passion Play emphasizes: 'Jesus was against hierarchy' [CC]

The 2010 Oberammergau Passion Play, which began on May 15 and will run through October 3, emphasizes that “Jesus was against hierarchy and against institutions,” according to one of the two actors who portray Jesus.

Well, I guess I will check this off my must see list!

Even a superficial reading of the Gospels shows that Jesus was against the hierarchy and many other social and religious norms of the time. He excoriated the Pharisees, he drove money changers out of the temple, he ate with tax collectors, he criticized Martha for working hard. He fed the 5000 instead of urging them to fast. Jesus was radical! I don't see anything new here.
