Yep, I have to agree that it was wrong for Pacific Gas & Electric to make a donation to the Proposition 8 fight. Given that the company has a near monopoly status, it shouldn’t be taking partisan positions.

Does this imply no public utility should make any donation to charity? The monopoly argument applies to any donation.

I don’t see any problems with a donation to a non-political charity. But in this case, PG&E was clearly taking a political position.
