Are Cardinals able to make themselves available to the public before entering the conclave, without breaking their vow of secrecy?
The Vatican has put a stop to the American Cardinals in speaking publicly. Transparency vs. secrecy, concern vs. discretion, or posturing vs. prudence?
Interesting… on yesterday’s “Conversation With Cardinal Dolan”, it sounded as though even though there was a blackout with the media, that he could continue to do his updates. He acknowledged that he wouldn’t be able to talk about anything of substance. He has also been doing a daily update. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out today.
