I should add that New England in general, as a region, appears to have a fairly strong cultural identity.
There is a Texas identity, but when it comes to culture, there’s not enough difference between northern Texas and Oklahoma to bother about. And the Texas Hill Country (east Texas) is populated by people, virtually all of whose ancestors came from Missouri.
But at the most basic level, there’s not a lot of difference among residents of Southwest Missouri, Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma and a good part of Texas. Southeast Missouri is “Deep South”, “Delta” country, altogether different
