Obama or Trump?

As a person from the outside looking in, I came across this article earlier and I wanted to get your imput on it.
cnsnews.com/commentary/bill-donohue/obama-spent-last-8-years-sticking-it-catholics-and-catholic-church
Was Obama anti-Catholic to this extent? Is Trump any better? Why had Obama such a celebrity following? It seemed as though every famous person was behind him. It’s almost like they idolised him or something.
Who is/was better for America?

Trump has only been on the job for a few days; history will tell us who did the most good for America.

I read the article by Bill Donahue, head of the Catholic League.

I didn’t vote for Obama either time. He was/is a very liberal democrat. His views on abortion were/are against Catholic teaching, and the contraceptive mandate in the affordable care act was problematic.

So after 8 years of liberal policies, the republican party could have come together and given us another Reagan, or someone with Reagan like qualities and ideologies. But, sadly that republican party doesn’t exist anymore.

So instead of a Ronald Reagan type, they gave us Trump. I’vewritten many posts about Trump and why I thought he wasn’t close to being a good candidate.

I needed to censor the news from my children regarding him and his recording of acting like a 59 year old masher. I needed to censor the news about him appearing in 3 different soft porn videos as a cameo (he was fully clothed, but still). I was expected to disregard his past. I was expected to disregard his calls for torture. I was expected to disregard how many people said that they were not paid by him for work or products they provided. I was expected to believe that Trump University was not anything but a pyramid scheme. I was expected to believe that his late night tweets were those of a composed, mature grown up. When one is elected president, the rating of his TV show don’t matter anymore, so when he takes the time to tweet Arnold Schwarzenegger “My rating were bigger than yours, nyah, nyah nyah” It doesn’t give me confidence in his temperament. I don’t think he’s anything more than a con artist.

So bottom line, I am not very confident.

I don’t think President Obama is anti- Catholic per se. Some things he signed were not in line with Catholic teaching, but that doesn’t make him anti-Catholic. Conversely, as the linked article by Bill Donahue states, Obama signing things that are in line with Catholic teaching doesn’t make him Catholic.

I could give you a teenage perspective on Obama…

Basically, what everyone in my age group says about Obama is “He’s cool and funny and I know nothing about his policies. Does he like gay people? He does? That’s cool.”

Obama just had a generally cool personality in the minds of many young people. They didn’t exactly care about his political side, but there were a lot of Obama memes that people loved. He was funny, hip, etc. That’s why youth and celebrities often spoke highly of him.

This is a generalization of course, but it was a common idea.

:sad_yes:

And based on some of the stories I’m seeing today–I’m worried about the consequences of his presidency more than any other in my politically conscious lifetime: Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, or Obama.

#7

former president obama was militantly pro abortion

there was no way i could’ve voted for him; and i DIDN’T

#8

Some of his administration’s policies were specifically anti-Catholic such as going after the Little Sisters of the Poor and ordering Catholic agencies who were helping victims of sex trafficking to offer abortion services. But it’s hard to separate how much of this was due to his own feelings or those of his administrators.

Well, I’m not so sure “they gave us Trump.” There were a slew of Republican runners early on. It was more a case of “WE gave THEM Trump.” Sadly, I think the better people - of both parties - don’t run anymore becaus of the personal toll and savage media treatment candidates get. Or as a great saying I once heard goes: “Anyone who CAN get elected president doesn’t deserve to.”

  1. Yes. Obama’s administration was an anti-Catholic, pro-abortion conspiracy; from beginning to end. We should pray for all of those deceived by it.

  2. Only time will tell. Mr. Trump has been President for less than one week. Mr. Trump has picked some devout Christian advisors, which is one good sign.

  3. Celebrities, and the secular media which produces them, are violently anti-Christian, like Mr. Obama. Haven’t you noticed this?

  4. As I said, only time will tell. Remember that Christians put their faith in God, not in men.

Obama hoped being “hip” and “cool” would give him a pass on many things - and he was right - it did! Only some of us saw through that and found him manipulative and with a hidden agenda to do what was not good for our country. I think he entered his presidency very young and inexperienced. If perhaps, he had served more time in government offices other than community organizer and perhaps governor and vice president at some point, he would have been more mature and had more life experience. Granted Trump has never held public office, but he makes up for it with life experience and being an international businessman.

former president obama may’ve been cool. groovy & attractive to millenials and eastern liberals

unfortunately former president obama was/is militantly pro abortion

i doubt the former president obama had a specific position on the Catholic Church other than to view the consertavive pro life wing of the catholic church as an impediment to his secular agenda

Farrakhan to Obama last September… this had to hurt
google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=/amp/www.breitbart.com/video/2016/09/21/farrakhan-to-obama-let-trump-do-want-he-wants-you-failed-inner-city-blacks/amp/&ved=0ahUKEwji5bmk_N7RAhWF4iYKHZVFAuUQFggbMAA&usg=AFQjCNGq4GsOjCTdf8YPqzz5IqBU1X7Zgw

Sunday at the Men’s Day program hosted at Union Temple Baptist Church in Washington, DC, Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan said to President Barack Obama, “Your people are suffering and dying in the streets,” of Chicago, so “you failed to do what should have been done.”

Farrakhan continued by saying it is time to let Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump do “what he wants to because he is not destroying your legacy.”

Farrakhan said, “So you Democrats, you been in their party a long time. Answer me, what did you get? You got a president. He is worried about his legacy. You want Hillary to get in to protect your legacy because Trump said the minute he gets in, he is going to reverse the Affordable Care Act. Because that is your signature achievement. To show you how hateful the enemy is, he hates that you achieve what you did achieve. So he said I’m going to tear it up when I get in. So he don’t want his legacy destroyed. Mr. President, let the man do, if he get in, what he wants to because he is not destroying your legacy. If your legacy is bound up in an Affordable Care Act that only affects a few million people and they are trying to make it really difficult for those of us who signed up, that’s not your legacy.

He continued, “But I just want to tell you, Mr. President, you’re from Chicago, and so am I. I go out in the streets with the people. I visited the worst neighborhoods. I talked to the gangs. And while I was out there talking to them, they said ‘You know, Farrakhan, the president ain’t never come. Could you get him to come and look after us?’ There’s your legacy, Mr. President. It’s in the streets with your suffering people, Mr. President. And If you can’t go and see about them, then don’t worry about your legacy ’cause the white people that you served so well, they’ll preserve your legacy. The hell they will. But you didn’t earn your legacy with us. We put you there. You fought for the rights of gay people. You fought for the rights of this people and that people. You fight for Israel. Your people are suffering and dying in the streets! That’s where your legacy is. Now you failed to do what should have been done.”

if there was an 18 hole championship quality golf course, better weather; lobster rolls, etc in chicago former president obama would’ve gone to chicago

Plus a celebrity following just indicates those for promiscuous sex, serial marriages and abortion on demand are Obama followers for the most part.

#18

Funny because trump is tied to serial marriages and promiscuous sex quite a bit

#19

he has been married 3 times, but has been a devoted father to all his children, but I don’t know where you get the informarion for the latter.

#20

I can’t get past the fact that Obama sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for twenty years and listened to sermons i.e. GD America. I also can’t get out of my mind the scene where the Obamas were attending a patriotic function of some kind, I can’t remember what, and Michelle leans over to him and say “all this for a damn flag.”

Trump’s presidency is yet to be written.
