What jumped out at me was that the HS boyfriend relentlessly pursued you (very flattering, who wouldn't like that?). And then you mention the "passion has waned" in your marriage. Of course, the passion would've waned with the HS boyfriend, you just didn't date him long enough to get to that point.
The fact that in the dreams, the HS boyfriend has blue hair--which he never did in real life, suggests that he doesn't represent the real person, just a characteristic you associate with him--namely, crazy passion.:)
If your relationship with your husband is the longest one you've ever had, perhaps you just never got to the "waning of crazy chemistry/passion" and on to the "real life/mature love" stage before.
Maybe you are subconsciously yearning for a little of the old romance? How about trying some date nights with your husband? You can even do those at home--special dinner, dress up a bit?
I have thought that this is true. While hubby and I don't have that crazy passion of when we first got married, we certainly aren't in a passionless marriage. I sure do yearn for that kind of crazy passion, as I am sure all of us do, but I LOVE where I am with my husband. Sure, marriage has it's tough spots, but we're so perfect together. I mean, yesterday we had an hour long discussion while fishing about our favorite fruits and how to mix them into a fruit salad. Seriously, is that weird or what? We're just really buddy-buddy and best friends. We talk about everything, and while we're not swinging from chandeliers I have to admit, sex in the beginning was...well, awkward. As time as gone on we've gotten better at it..so while quantity waned, we traded it for quality. A fair trade in my opinion.
The only thing I can think of that has me frustrated on this front is the fact that we've had to abstain from sex for 2 months now due to a medical thing I went through that made fertility impossible to know. But again, this hasn't pitted us against each other, but rather the friendship between us has grown like crazy since we've had to fill hanky-panky time with things like discussion about fruit salads and heavy debates about the best way to preserve meats and fish in case the world ends and we have to rough it. I say smoking, he says salting and drying into jerky. hrmph!
