Olympics Chief: Terrorism 'must never triumph'

IOC president Thomas Bach: Terrorism ‘must never triumph’
Olympics chief Thomas Bach says terrorism “must never triumph” and believes Russia will deliver “safe and secure” Winter Olympics despite two recent deadly attacks in Volgograd.

In his New Year’s message, the president of the International Olympic Committee condemned what he called “cowardly terrorist attacks” on the main railway station of Volgograd and on a city trolleybus which killed 34 people and wounded scores

History would seem to tell us that “must never triumph” is code for “We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing, and hope for the best.”

I think the IOC president’s statement of confidence was necessary, in the face of speculation that the recent bombings may have had the upcoming Olympics in mind.

Is there something specific you think the IOC should change? Are they remiss somehow?

What a world we live in!

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
