Opera Company of Philadelphia "Hallelujah" - Random Act of Culture

Just something fun and nothing serious. One of the “Random Act of Culture” events this time in Philadelphia. 650 singers from all over the area including the chorus members of The Opera Company of Philadelphia sang the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s “Messiah” with the Wanamaker Organ and music director there, surprising unsuspecting shoppers at Wanamakers… I mean, Macy’s.

I remember watching this not long ago. I was immediately hit by a failure to understand why the people liked it. In a video of it many people were singing along and I even saw some crying. They people in charge were like, “oh they like music, isnt that nice.”

It wasnt about the Music, it is about God. People were so overjoyed to see God brought back into our often so secular lives.
