Order of St. John

Hello all,

I have been reading about the Knights of Malta and I think it is a wonderful organization.
Not being Catholic I would not be eligible to join but I have heard of two protestant organizations with whom they work very closely. They are The Most Venerable Order of St. John and the Johanniter Order. I believe they are also invitation only but that is about all I know. Does anyone have any more details on how one could qualify for membership in those two orders?
Thank you.

They are orders in freemasonry

They are degrees or levels in freemasonry.
The masons borrowed names like the Knights of Malta for their degrees. The names came from organizations like the Knights of Malta which has been in existence since the year1099. That is long before any known records of the masons.
But thank you for your response.

Cordially,
