Origen quote--help

Origen, On the Apparel of Women, chapter 1
"And do you not know that you are (each) an Eve? The sentence of God on
this sex of yours lives in this age: the guilt must of necessity live
too. You are the devil’s gateway: you are the unsealer of that
(forbidden) tree: you are the first deserter of the divine law: you are
she who persuaded him whom the devil was not valiant enough to attack.
You destroyed so easily God’s image, man. On account of your
desert–that is, death–even the Son of God had to die."

And you, “Adam”, were the one so stupid to simply accept the forbidden fruit knowing it was evil. You didn’t put up so much as a single objection. At least Eve struggled directly against Lucifer who worked hard to deceive her. You just took it and ate it, typical man, thinking first with your stomach . . . or lower. You did anything Eve asked of you.

Who was the bigger idiot? The one who was deceived or the one who didn’t even try to do what was right? And who did Jesus come as to rectify the sin . . . it wasn’t the “second Eve” was it? It was the second “Adam” that Jesus brought to us.

Origen was an important father of the faith, but he wasn’t writing scripture. So his quote was just his very flawed opinion.

Oh, how many men have been lead astray by beautiful women, even wise Solomon. Men have a natural afinity to love women, this affection when properly ordered leads to the wonderful relationship of marriage which God intended for us. Women also can convert their husbands when others cannot (1 Peter 3). Also remember that Jesus said that one commits adultery with a woman if he even thinks about doing things with her. Also remeber it took another woman to undo Eve’s sin, and that woman was the Blessed Virgin Mary.
