Over scrupulous

Ok this is a big topic for me. I feel that the world is way to over scrupulous. You do one thing and your finished unless you go to confession. I will ask a question! Does God really care about the things that we think he does? I mean i hear it all the time people getting looked down upon for every thing. The bottom line is that the world well we all judge way to harshly. A black man walks down the road with loose pants and a bandana and he is a ganster. A wite boy with too many piercing and tatoos is a punk. I mean where do we get all of the lables from. Is this day and age really different from the rest or is it just more judgemental that the rest. You know i feel i am going to heaven you know why, because i am not judging, i am not doing anything to hurt other people. I am sorry for my sins in my heart i know. I love God and i would do good for others if they needed it so i know i am a good person to God and socially. Please i would like some feedback from people with knowledge so that if i am just too non caring that they may show me the way. If i am right thank you God if i am wrong someone help me!

You make some very good points but those things are not being overly scrupulous. The meaning of being overly scrupulous is to be a perfectionist, to try and find sin (relating to oneself) where there is no sin.

The instances that you cite come from people being too judgmental and I agree with you on that point. I also agree that there is too much political correctness to the point that we have insanity.

Maggie is correct. Prejudicial judgement and scrupulosity are two different things.

Ok i agree morally wrong is wrong enough! I apologize and retract this statement. Ok what i should say that may better help you understand where i am coming from, is SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE i think that we have as scewed version of what is socially unacceptable and we tend to use what is socially unacceptable as a sin but its not you see some people dont like a certain thing and automatically say yup that is a sin. We need to evaluate on what a sin is and not think to deeply. It seems like everything is a sin. In this case i dont agree. Think about it is what is socially unacceptable a sin? Just cause certain people dont agree with it does not make it a sin. We are just simply over scrupulous we look for sin where there is no sin at all that i think is what needs to be understood. I feel it takes alot to sin and you have to know exactly what you are doing to sin. Tatoos earings etc are not sins alot of people dont like them so we say it is a sin. No that is not correct that is just socially unacceptable!

Couldn’t one argue that tatoos and piercings “defile the body” and therefore they can then justify them being sinful? My mom can still recall from her childhood growing up in Catholic school how the nuns would “come down hard” on the girls for wanting to get their ears pierced.
