Paul Ryan: Immigration Legislation Unlikely in '14

#1

[LEFT]Days after House Republicans unveiled a roadmap for an overhaul of the nation’s broken immigration system, one of its backers said legislation is unlikely to pass during this election year.
Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said distrust of President Barack Obama runs so deep in the Republican caucus that he’s skeptical the GOP-led House would pass any immigration measure. He said a plan that puts security first could only pass if lawmakers believe the administration would enforce it — an unlikely prospect given Republicans’ deep opposition to Obama.
“This isn’t a trust-but-verify, this is a verify-then-trust approach,” Ryan said.

Why is this issue still a hot button?

If our economy continues to flounder and the remnants of our freedoms continue to get droned away, it will solve itself – no one will want to come here.

Be careful what you wish for everybody; you might get it!

Gee, Rep. Ryan, I cannot imagine why anyone would distrust Mr. Obama!

#4

As long as immigrants don’t vote, what’s it to them?

#5

So because they can’t trust each other, they’re going to sit on the job for a year and play solitaire?

Lamentably, governmental gridlock is the best protector of citizen liberties.

Bring on the gridlock.

And bring in some term limits!

Immigration “reform” is presently a mess, and will remain so for the foreseeable future, no matter what. What’s that axiom in medicine? “First, do no harm”?

So the establishment Republican were VERY upset about the push for reduced spending and the government shutdown because it took away focus from the trainwreck of Obamacare. But somehow pushing amnesty and immigration reform is okay, even though it rescues Obama and takes focus off Obamacare.

Completely makes sense.

Thankfully the Republican House members gave the leaders an earful and resoundingly rejected this nonsense. But then the question remains, why are they still the leaders if they are so out of step?

From your keyboard to God’s ears!!!

I no longer trust Paul Ryan to represent anyone other than his crony “capitalist” pals. He is very smart, but it appears that he has been bought and paid for by international interests. :mad:Rob

God willing. Rob

Rewarding lawbreakers is immoral to begin with. But, if anyone thinks that the moment any legal status is granted, the Democrats won’t start screaming about SOME Americans having second class status thanks to, you guessed it, racism, that person is staggeringly naive. :frowning: Rob
