I’m a candidate in RCIA. I’m going to be confirmed soon and need to pick a confirmation saint. I’ve narrowed the list to three saints I’m considering. The one whose intercession I seek the most, who I feel closest to, is male (I’m female). Does the saint whose name I take at Confirmation have to be the same gender as me?
No it doesn't!
And, Welcome sister.
When my wife and I went through RCIA and entered into the Church there were several people that chose name of the opposite sex.
Just remember to continue your education after RCIA. There is so much to learn and you will never know everything.
It has been nearly 4 years for us. Easter Vigil 2008 was baptism (for my wife), confirmation, first Eucharist (WOW! what a great experience, and is every time since), plus our marriage was blessed (a nun arranged for this) during the vigil also! We had what we came to learn, what is called the GRAND SLAM!
