Pistol shot kills Russian priest

#1

A Russian Orthodox priest was shot dead outside his home near Moscow after challenging a group of rowdy drunks, Russian media report.

Father Alexander Filippov, 39, died from a pistol shot in Satino-Russkoye, a village in Podolsk district.

His widow Yelena, quoted by Interfax news agency, said some of the drunks had been urinating in the hallway.

It is deeply disturbing to me when anyone is killed, especially a man of the cloth. I am moved to pray for the two different priests who are cited in this story and their families. I hope others will join me.

Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord.
And Let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

For the family:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

For Souls in Purgatory:
O God, whose goodness and mercy are unbounded, listen to the prayers we offer Thee in behalf of suffering brethren in purgatory. O bountiful Jesus, who didst shed the last drop of Thy blood for the redemption of mankind, look with compassion upon the sufferings of these dear souls. Let some drops of that precious blood flow upon them, and purify their lest stains, and extinguish the devouring flames in which they are plunged. Deliver them O merciful Jesus, from that place of darkness and tortures and receive them immediately into Thy paternal bosom, there to behold, and praise, and love Thee for all eternity. Amen.

LORD Jesus
Have Mercy on ur Son

MOTHER OF SORROWS

Father,
as your son was raised on the cross,
his mother Mary stood by him, sharing his suffering
May your church be united with Christ
in his suffering and death
and so come to share in his rising to new life,
where he lives and and reigns to new life,
Where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever .

Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through your mercy rest in peace. Amen.

Lord, please grant healing, comfort and strength to this deceased priest’s beloved wife. Amen.

A Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are in suffering or distress. Look down on us, we beg of You and grant us the grace which we humbly and earnestly implore, through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother to whom You confided us as her children, and whose prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.

Merciful Lord Jesus, please grant Your faithful servant, Fr. Alexander Filippov, everlasting peace. May Heaven's perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in your mercy hear us and answer us. Amen
