Planned Parenthood Opens Big New Abortion Center Sunday in Portland, Oregon

Portland, OR (LifeNews.com) -- Planned Parenthood is opening a massive new abortion center in northwestern Oregon on Sunday. The new abortion business will serve as the headquarters of the Planned Parenthood affiliate Planned Parenthood Columbia-Willamette and was built in the heart of an African-American community.

The building of the abortion business has upset residents because it is located at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Beech Street.

Despite boycotts of contractors, builders and plumbers, Planned Parenthood was able to complete the new abortion facility.

The abortion business also received a grant from the federal Housing and Urban Development department to help it build the new center.

Gayle Atteberry, the director of Oregon Right to Life, tells LifeNews.com that Planned Parenthood officials have been telling state and local residents that much of its mission centers on non-abortion activities.

But she points to the organization’s 2007-2008 national annual report as revealing its "commitment to its abortion business."

“Despite its humanitarian-sounding talk and non-profit status, Planned Parenthood is a business focused on making money,” Atteberry said. “Tragically, a significant portion of their booming clinic business is ending the lives of unborn babies.”

Atteberry says the annual report shows abortions performed at Planned Parenthood clinics around the nation increased 5.3% over the previous year, totaling 305,310 abortions, approximately 25% of all abortions done in the United States.

"Abortions at Planned Parenthood clinics have nearly doubled in the past 10 years, while at the same time total abortions have dropped nearly every year," she added.

Last November, Abby Johnson, director of Planned Parenthood’s clinic in Bryan, Texas, quit after viewing an abortion through ultrasound.

She said that it had been bothering her that clinic directors were instructed to increase the number of abortions performed.

“It’s a very lucrative business and that’s why they want to increase numbers,” she said.

Oh trust me, so do I. But as long as America has a 'protestant' ethic where most protestant churches allow and even support abortion groups. It is enough to make any body sick.

Most "mainstream-protestant" churches tend to support unfettered legalized aboriton along with many liberal Catholics in spite of the Church's stand against.

Most bible-believing "evangelical-protestants" and orthodox Churches are on record as being pro-life. Go check out the "Manhattan Declaration" and watch the numbers of signers swell.

I know that, am I'm not trying to lump all protestants in together.I'm just lumping most of the protestants here at a Methodist Seminary together. When I say protestant I mainly mean UMC, UCC, ECUSA, ELCA, and PCUSA. Just sit in on my Ethics class and you will know what I mean.
