I need help to find my female friend a nice Jewish boy…

Perhaps I should explain. I’ve known her since high school and she’s my best friend here at UW-Madison. She’s half-Jewish on her mother’s side, but wasnt really raised religiously on the account her parents are pariahs to their respective families and turned to atheism (or just dont care). Her father’s family refers to her mother as “the Jew b___” and her mother’s family is mortified she’s married to a non-Jew.

She’s been in a series of really bad relationships, and I do mean bad. All of our mutual friends agree she seems attracted to men who treat her like garbage and have nasty drug habits.

Today she confided in me she’s very lonely and during our conversation, I picked up she envies the type of relationship I have with my gf, who is also a mutual friend.

So that’s settled. She needs some positive spiritual influence, and/or a guy who wont mentally/physically abuse her or just use her for sex.

I have almost zero understanding of Judiasm, Any help/suggestions?

I don’t think that your friend needs to be in any more relationships until she gets her own life straighted out. WHen a person repeatedly puts themselves into dangerous or abusive situations, it is a sign of a troubled individual. I am not saying that your friend is crazy, but because of her upbringing and low self esteem, she might need therapy before she can go forward with a healthy relationship. YOu could find her the most wonderful, loving Jewish man around, but if she hasn’t settled her own internal issues, the relationship will fail. SOmetimes we look outside ourselves for happiness when the problem is within.
