Former St Ed’s Player from Berea Needs Your Thoughts & Prayers
ASHLAND, Ohio – An Ashland University football player was seriously injured Monday during a practice session.
Cory Skoczen, of Berea, was taken to Ashland Samaritan Hospital after the collision and was then taken by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center.
The redshirt sophomore linebacker is in critical condition.
Skoczen’s family released a statement Tuesday, thanking the community for its support and prayers.
“We would sincerely like to thank everyone who has been concerned for our son, Cory Skoczen. The outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming, and we appreciate your thoughts and prayers as they have brought us comfort during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Ashland head football coach Lee Owens said, “We want to add our thoughts and prayers for Cory and his family. I want to personally thank our trainer, Jeremy Hancock, the emergency room staff at Samaritan Hospital and all the other related medical personnel for their quick and professional response.”
