Please Pray for Deacon- Stroke Patient

#1

Please pray for Deacon G. from my church. He had a stroke and is now trying to regain the use of his legs. He would very much like to walk again, and while his therapy is helping he has a long way to go. Thank you all!

-C.G.

Also, if anyone knows a particular saint that would be able to help in this area, I would like to know their name. Thanks much.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions

God put mankind into the world to work together and thereby give him glory. We beg him:
– Lord, make us reflect your glory.

God and Creator, we bless you for giving us the good things of the world
to support and sustain our lives.
– Lord, make us reflect your glory.

Look with favour on us as we start our daily work:
may we work with you and according to your will.
– Lord, make us reflect your glory.

Make what we do today bear good fruit for our brethren:
with them and for them may we build an earthly city that is pleasing to you.
– Lord, make us reflect your glory.

Be close to us and everyone we meet today:
give us the gift of joy and peace.
– Lord, make us reflect your glory.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Lord God, King of heaven and earth, guide and sanctify, rule and govern our hearts and our bodies, our feelings, words and actions, according to your law and following your commandments.

With your help, in this world and the next,
may we deserve to receive freedom and salvation.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

Merciful Jesus, during Your life on earth You showed great concern for the sick and the infirm. Have compassion now on Deacon G who has had a stroke. Grant him a healing of mind and body and restore his strength and spirit and the use of his legs.
Comfort him with the knowledge that we are praying for him and his family, and give them peace with a sense of Your presence. May they know that in a special way they are united with You, their suffering Christ. May they contribute to the welfare of the Whole People of God by associating themselves freely with Your passion and death for the salvation of the world. Bless, too, those who take care of the sick. In their own time of need, bestow on them a hundredfold the blessings they have given to others. Amen

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit Of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

I do know one saint who had a stroke. She’s beatified and is expected to be canonised. You probably haven’t heard of her, but her name is Blessed Mary MacKillop. She’s Australia’s first beatified saint. She related to me and to Brother Dan Mac.
I’ll ask her to pray for your Deacon. God may not heal him perhaps, but the main thing is that whatever it happens to be, your Deacon fulfils God’s eternal wishes in him for himself and others. I pray it will be so.
