Please Pray for me. I had to leave the convent

#1

Hello, I was wondering if you could please pray for me.

I entered the convent at the age of 18 after much prayer and discernment. It was a beautiful community of Contemplative-Actives. I spent seven wonderful years there, and was only a year and a half away from my final vows.

In 2004 I became seriously ill with major clots in my lungs. We later found out that I have a rare and sometimes debilitating autoimmune disease that attacks my platelets. The antibodies that attack them are very sticky, and it causes the platelets to stick together. It makes you feel very sick and tired, and it causes a host of other problems. After fighting with it for almost three years, I decided that I can no longer fulfill the obligations of religious life.

I was dispensed from my vows, and stayed a little while there, and then moved into my father’s house about two weeks ago. I am not adjusting very well, and I feel like I’ve left my heart with the Sisters. I can’t sleep, and I can hardly pray.

Please, please, pray for me.

God bless you and we will pray for you.

I am sorry to hear about your illness. I hope you can get back to good health as much as possible.

I am sure it would be hard to leave any place after spending seven years of your life there. I wouldn’t feel bad about it…and you certainly are better for your time there. Perhaps God will see fit to make you better and have you return?

If not, I am sure you’ll continue to walk with Christ and can be an inspiration to everyone around you.

Prayers for you! Prayers for your health and adjustment.

I feel SO much for you right now. I, too, had to leave the religious life due to health reasons. I spent two years in the community, received the habit, but never did make it to vows. It has been four years now and though I will never forget that beautiful time, I have finally adjusted to life in the world. I am now married to a wonderful husband and I thank God for that beautiful time I experienced in the convent. I believe it has truly prepared me to live the rest of my life to the full, in a holy and fruitful manner.

Feel free to PM me if you ever want to talk about it. I will be out of town this week, so I may not respond for several days. But I would be more than happy to hear from you.

God bless you and keep you. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Praying for you and your family. It has only been two weeks and may take longer for God’s plan for you to unfold itself and be revealed to you. Continue praying for that insight and grace.

May you find peace and comfort in the loving arms of family and friends and from all the prayers here from CAF.

Praying for your health and recovery and much success in your faith journey wherever it leads you.

Dear heartaflame,

You followed the Lord into the convent, and now you have followed Him out. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus draw you ever closer to Himself.

With prayers for you,

I feel very much what you are going through and my heart and prayers go out to you. My wife also suffers from an auto immune disease which has been a firey trial for her most of her life. When the time comes for God to really reveal to her heart what it’s all about though, look out world! she’s my ‘Little Flower’ in waiting, that’s how I see it. May God bless you through this time and may you experience His presence and heart more than you ever have:)

The hardest thing we are asked to do is to look past the pain and see God. I am praying for you now and will continue. You have not left your first love. He is with you.
