Please pray for me..

I’m 14 and since last year I’ve been going through what seems to be a mental illness/spiritual warfare. My parents know some details of it but not everything, and the little bit that they knew freaked them out and made me feel rejected. Please pray for me, it’s gotten so bad; it’s taken over my life and I don’t see a way out. I’m too scared to mention it in Confession, because I’m worried the priest will be horrified by my delusions that seem superstitious in nature. I also don’t want to see a psychiatrist; I don’t know how I could possibly convince my parents to dish out money for something drastic like that. I don’t see a way out and I don’t know where God is in all of this; I’m starting to lose hope He’ll ever deliver me out of what I’m going through and that He’s angry at my sins caused by this.
Mental illness runs in my dad’s side of the family, but I’ve always been an anxious person in nature. I honestly don’t know what to do except pray the rosary and ask for others to pray for me. :frowning:
I’ve also given up on trying to do good things because according to the Baltimore Catechism good deeds don’t have any merit when you’re in a state of sin.

Good thing do have merit even if you are in a state of sin

I understand what your going through,I REALLY, REALLY. DO !!
What you need to do is Write things down, get a school Excersise book,
And write to yourself, try to Analyse how you feel, and what you think makes you feel that way, then you also need to find mental stimulation ,something that gets you out of the house in a totally different environment, such as ,can you get yourself in a Race Cycling group ? Or maybe mountain bike racing group ? It’s fast moving , it forces you to focus on things far removed from your present thoughts ,
Also make sure you have a secure place to keep your writings,
You can beat this thing that makes you feel bad,

Good advice in the above post.

Saying prayers for you.

God is with you always: please remember that.

:grouphug:

You mentioned that you are worried about going to confession… well, don’t be… it’s not easy but the priest would be relieved to know that someone who has fallen is trying again and wants to be pure again; instead of someone who will stay lost because they do not take accountability for their actions. As you said, you want to gain merit for your deeds again.

Explain to the priest that you are worried that your explanations might sound superstitious, and ask him not to judge you (even though he won’t).

All I do, is I ask my mom to take me church early because I want to go to confession and she doesn’t question that–it’s her duty to take me to church until I can drive.

As for you mental illness, if you still have delusions after month, then I suggest that you do, indeed, seek a psychiatrist, regardless of the price, some medical aids help with paying for it.

The most important thing is to stay calm. That is all you can do. When I had psychosis, I kept making these false associations to the Bible, people and things that were happening around me.

Praying for you…

According to the Catechism, that is incorrect.

If you end up needing a psychiatrist, your parents will probably pay for it. Or their insurance will. Try to find a good, Catholic psychiatrist. Catholic Charities offers therapists at reduced prices for people in need.

Don’t be afraid of Confession, the priest is there to help you be healed and forgiven, spiritually.

God bless you.

Remembering you in my daily prayers. God bless.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on
Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those
Who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Peace

Do you mean CCC- Catechism of Catholic Church?
Can you provide me the link where it says it is wrong?

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular Popeye14, and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon Popeye14 in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give

  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.

Our Lady of Mental Peace,

  • Pray for us!
    Amen.

Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Prayer Against Depression
………….By St Ignatius of Loyola

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

Amen.

Let Nothing Disturb You

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.

Patience,
Obtains all things,
Whoever has God
Lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

As so many above have said, ‘don’t be afraid to go to confession’. Really just go.

Think of it as going to a doctor’s office. When someone is afraid that they have some horrible incurable disease they are often afraid to see the doctor. What a relief they feel when they find out that what their suffering with is actually curable, and manageable and that there is a remedy for it!

Your very best friend waits for you there in confession, along with spiritual discernment and guidance. And real forgiveness and charity. And afterwards, as Mother Angelica said, “Go eat a pizza!”, or ice cream or gelato!

Before you go, pray for that priest, whoever will be seeing you even if you are not sure who that will be. This is so important, our priests need those prayers and it will help you get ready to meet with him. You may also want to make an appointment with your priest to meet with you outside of the regular confession times. I did that once, had an hour appointment and I was able to ask many questions about spiritual things that a brief run in the confessional before the 5pm mass on Saturday couldn’t fill. But, if this is mostly a physical problem, such as needing a psychiatrist, your priest might be able to help you discern that also!

You are a very loved and people want to help you Popeye14! You’ll be in my prayers.

Thank you very much your reply :o:blush:

Hi Popeye,

Welcome to the forum.

Don’t be afraid to go to confession. Remember that God is more merciful than we can even imagine.

Prayers said for you.

Hang in there. One day at a time.

God bless you!

About the ‘good deeds’ not having merit. Do good no matter. God is outside of time, and do those things you can do even if minor, go to confession, and then maybe the merit and the fruit of those ‘good deeds’ during your struggle will be seen.

I hope for you, that you may have some good consolations getting through this time. I’ll pray for your mom and dad too!

:grouphug: Praying the novena prayer to Our Lady of Mount Carmel for you, Popeye14. You might like to pray it, too.

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity.
O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power.
O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen.
