Please pray for me.

Hello, my name is Ann and I’m new here. Please pray for me as I am going through the divorce process. My husband and I have been married for 17 years and my husband asked for a divorce. I am very sad, heart-broken and depressed over this. I really do love and care about him. We have two teenagers (age 15 and 13). My 15 years old daughter is living with her dad and 13 years old son is living with me. My daughter told me that her dad is seeing someone else.
I am having a tough time accepting this divorce and can’t seem to move on. I am constantly praying every day and night, on my knees praying the Rosary, Our Fathers and other prayers. I am trying to find something that will help me move on. I am already taking medication for the depression and it doesn’t look like it’s working very well. Please pray for me and my children.

You and your children have my prayers, as will their dad. :gopray2:

Hi Ann. You and your family are in my prayers!
Be Strong and have faith. God does not burden us with more than we can handle. It may seem like He does but somehow things work out for the better if our faith remains strong!
God Bless You!!!

Ann, I’m so sorry. This is a broken world. God Bless you.

I am just recovering from a depression brought on by a number of things–a miscarriage being the biggest. I’ve found that these forums have been a good distraction. I hope you find them a distraction, too.

May the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around you this day and every day. God Bless you.

You can place a prayer on this site online which will then be placed at the Lourdes grotto.

hope it all works out for you

anngal,

If you have just recently started depression meds, give it some time or speak to your doc. It can take a few weeks for seratonin levels to stabilize with an SSRI medication. Or your doc might want to tweak your dosage or the brand you’re on.

Prayers being offered for your situation,
c

The deeper sorrow has been carved into us, the deeper capacity we have for joy!

Offer up all your suffering for those whose souls are in peril and also for the sake of your family, and you will reap the benefits a hundred-fold whether soon or in heaven, by suffering we can come closer to God. My dad has medication for his depression also, he offers it up.

I’ll be praying for you also, God bless you and your family, carry your cross, this life is nothing compared to eternity…

Ann:

As one poster noted, antidepressants can take a bit of time before they begin to take effect. In the meantime, most people still fell pretty aweful. The fact that you have legitimate reason to feel bad doesn’t make this any easier and doesn’t make you feel any better.

Going through a divorce is considered by most psychologists to be like going through the death of a best friend or a spouse. Although there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s going to take awhile to get there. The fact that your husband initiated the divorce and is seeing someone else, and that you still feel for him doesn’t make it any easier.

God listens to us when we pray, but sometimes, that’s just not enough. that’s why he gave us the Church and other people to talk to. Talk to whoever is prescribing your medication, and if he’s too busy have him refer you to a MFT or Psychologist who can spend some real time listening to you. Go to Confession and talk to your parish priest about this. Even though you’ve probably done nothing wrong, you need a place to put any feelings of guilt and shame that are sure to arise.

If you know a couple of trustworthy people at your parish or in any of the groups you attend, try talking to them, the same with sharing your feelings wiith a couple of the women from this board, but only if your think you can trust them.

I think these will help to lighten yout load a bit.

And, you, you and your family are in my prayers.

Peace be with you.

In Christ, Michael

Hello Ann and welcome to Catholic Answers Forums…I am now divorced (and annulled) over 25 years and also diagnosed with Bipolar the second of the two major mental illnesses and of course on medication and proabably for life. Divorce is terribly painful and most especially with children (mine are now 40 and 42 and my best pals)…it is a long road often to stability and happiness again and an extremely painful one. I thought you received some excellent advice indeed in this thread as follows:

Filmaker:Offer up all your suffering for those whose souls are in peril and also for the sake of your family, and you will reap the benefits a hundred-fold whether soon or in heaven, by suffering we can come closer to God.

I insight that where you are now is probably just all pain…but if you persevere and pray I guarantee that you will come through all this and smile joyfully again…as much as it probably seems now that you never will again. Trust The Lord!

Cecilia97 : If you have just recently started depression meds, give it some time or speak to your doc. It can take a few weeks for seratonin levels to stabilize with an SSRI medication. Or your doc might want to tweak your dosage or the brand you’re on.

Excellent advice!

Prayer to Our Lady is a powerful means of intercession…and more excellent advice re the Lourdes Grotto.

JMJTheresa: Ann, I’m so sorry. This is a broken world. God Bless you.

I am just recovering from a depression brought on by a number of things–a miscarriage being the biggest. I’ve found that these forums have been a good distraction. I hope you find them a distraction, too.

This can be indeed a broken world with broken people “unless a grain of wheat dies”…and these Forums can indeed be a great diversion from problems. Good advice.

Uncle David:Be Strong and have faith. God does not burden us with more than we can handle. It may seem like He does but somehow things work out for the better if our faith remains strong!

Words to be trusted and very theologically sound indeed.

You will be amongst my special intentions daily Ann…may The Lord continue to give you strength in suffering and prayer and grant you speedily consolation and relief.

I’ll look forward to reading your Posts in the Forums and I do hope as Theresa suggested that they will indeed be a diversion for you…worry achieves nothing at all but create stress and perhaps even more stress than what may already exist, hence any sort of diversion from problems can allow one to go back to them somewhat anyway rested and refreshed because one has spent a span of time not concentrating on them at all.
We do have a thread here in the Spirituality Forum where we are saying The Rosary continually for the special intentions of CAF members, also a thread again here in Spirituality Forum where you can post your special intention if you wish.

God Bless…and comfort…

Barb:)

I want to thank you all for your kind words and prayers. I have gone to the priest and told him everything. I feel a little bit better when he told me that I didn’t do anything wrong and that I can continue to go Mass and receive my communion. I know it will be very difficult when the divorce becomes finalized and having to remove my beautiful wedding ring. I know that will make me cry to see it off my hand. I will have to find my birthstone ring (a gift that my parents gave several years ago) and put it in its place.
I know that my Lord Savior Jesus Christ will be there for me in my heart and comfort me. I am going to church after I get off work for the Holy Week. Please continue to pray for me and for my family.
Thank you and May God Bless You All!!

Ann :o
