Please pray for my troubled sister

#1

A family member called me this evening to inform that my sister Yvonne attempted suicide by swallowing some pills. Immediately after she did that, she got scared and quickly took herself to the nearest emergency room. She will recover, she’s being held for observation and will probably be released in a few days. She apologized to us and expressed remorse for what she did.

This is the first time she ever attempted suicide, but she has been sufferering from severe depression and OCD for years. She has been in and out of various therapists and mental health facilities with little to no success.

She is a funny, good natured person when she is stable. She is not religious. I ask that you please pray that she may receive some peace of mind in her troubled life and that maybe she might begin to turn her thoughts to God after this scare.

Thank you and God Bless you all.

Lord, our God, you graciously chose Saint Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially for Yvonne.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of Saint Dymphna on our behalf. Grant Yvonne patience in their her sufferings and resignation to your divine will. Let her know how close she is to you, Lord, by her suffering. Please fill her with hope, and grant her the relief and cure she so much desires.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers. I deeply appreciate it. Yvonne was discharged and returned home today. She is feeling much better now and is in good spirits. To the question asked earlier about why my sister did this, she has for a long time struggled with chronic depression together with obsessive compulsive disorder which is a psychiatric anxiety disorder. Psychologically, it is very disabling and interferes with doing even the simplist things in normal everyday living. As I said in my original post, she’s been seeing doctors and receiving drug therapies, but since she is unemployed and lives on disability, her choice of preferred doctors and treatment is very limited. She currently lives alone, but we will sit down with her this weekend and talk to her about moving in with relatives because it is clear now that she cannot cope living on her own any more.

When I told Yvonne about this prayer thread for her, she asked me to pass on her thank you for your prayers. It did much good.

Again, thanks and God Bless.
