Porn addicted.

Dear fellow Christians.

I’m a believer since short. God has always walked trough my life as a thread. But now I have come here to find help as I have a issue to adress. I’m addicted to porn and I can’t really stop it. Porn has become a problem or well my addiction. I’m searching to change my ways to quit it. To set myself free and become normal again, since porn is not only a sin you commit. But it also makes you go insecure etc.

Do people know sources that could help me? I need help thank you all!

Check out the "Impurity Addicts" group on the forums. Lots of good advice there and a group of fellow addicts who can offer help in many ways.

God Bless!

that is a problem

and I would handle it quickly

first Go to Confession, each and every time you commit this, and perhaps ask the priest for any advice.

put safe searches on all search engines so when you look up regular things you don't acidently come across a porn image and get aroused

if you are a member paying or not to any porn site, cancel the membership immediately and spam on the email.

try to focus on the point that porn even though it arouses you is degrading to the people in it and is giving you an unrealistic perception that will not be attained by a person you may fall in love with.

any time you feel a super strong urge to watch porn - say a prayer, run outside , repeat "my temptations do NOT control me" - the first several times are going to be extremely hard but after that it gets easier

now what happens when you watch porn.... you most likely commit another sin right.... well always keep a rosary nearby and wrap it around your hand to remind you that your love is to God not to your lusts ( try also going to bed wearing a rosary around your hand- nice corded rosary is perfect)

don't be too hard on yourself ( but don't be to easy either) if you fail just keep at it

and Pray - constantly ask God for the Strength every day - and if you don't already have it down memorize the act of contrition

I pray for you!

Peace be to you Meemai,

I'm glad you realize that you have an unhealthy addiction and are seeking help. :) I "searched" for some older Porn Addiction threads and found some links that were recommended in them. I checked them out myself, and they seem pretty good - they are all Catholic Sites as well:

12-step-review.org/about/index.html
couragerc.net/

Just keep giving it your all and ask for God's grace to continue fighting the good fight, and remember that God continues to love you no matter how many times you fall. I will keep you in my humble prayers! God bless! ^________^

I’m also an addict of this sin as well.

I found that whenever I get the urge to watch porn or masturbate I use the restroom and sit on the toilet and pee lol. This is my personal method that sometimes works for me.

If you are talking about porn movies, imagine your mother, your sister, or your daughter in one of those movies. Or imagine your father, your brother, or your son. Somebody else's mother, sister, daughter, father, brother, son is in every one of those movies that you pay for to watch them perform.

Do you pity them?

Andrew, as usual, has the best reply. No condescension intended to others, but there’s really no cure for this addiction save for complete surrender to God. Honestly, there’s no cure for any addiction or anything in general in this life outside of surrender to God’s will. Addicts, however, need a real recovery plan and a very set way to make active acts of surrender to our Lord. Why? Because we’ve built up long-standing habits and ways of asserting “control” in our lives or finding escape from anxieties, fears, pain through our addiction.

Join the CAF group and take the advice from many of the long-standing members. You’ll be able to tell who they are.

And as a general rule, don’t really listen to me. Or that is, don’t listen to me unless it’s something that’s clearly coming from Him but coming out of my fingers. You’ll know the difference.
