This is world news? Hah, guess so since my local news carried it too. What a time to be alive! And they’re happy they no longer need health permits to operate in Clark County, Nevada. Surely profits over health and safety in that ‘business!’

Is Vegas Ok with this?

I’m not surprised. Condoms exist to prevent pregnancy and disease. Porn sells fantasy sex. If a viewer sees a condom it ruins the fantasy by injecting into it a dose of reality. The typical porn viewer doesn’t want to see a condom and porn with condoms doesn’t sell. Honestly, I am surprised there is still a porn industry at all. With the internet making amateur porn available for free at the click of a mouse I don’t know how this industry can survive much longer. I won’t mourn its loss.

Ok, I think I am missing the point. I am well aware of the Church’s teachings on condom use. I am also well aware, as someone who lived a non-religious life for over 20 years, that condoms aren’t 100% effective. I have a teenager conceived on the Pill and another conceived using condoms. In real world use, they have an effective rate of about 86% according to the CDC.

So, in relation to the discussion, what purpose do those links serve? I’m pretty sure actors who do porn aren’t concerned with the teachings of the Church. If they were, they wouldn’t be in that line of work. For those actors, a condom effectiveness rate of 86% is better than no protection at all. These are adults who are well aware of the possibility of pregnancy and disease. If they are willing to take their chances there isn’t much we can do about that other than pray and support social programs which could help those who work in the sex industry receive education and training in order to be able to support themselves and their families (many actors/actresses in porn are married and have children) in another way.
